"The Periwinkle Ribbon"

When my sleepy eyes opened this frosty morning, the air smelled like snowflakes.
I was sure a magic paint brush had dusted my world with frozen flecks of star dust.
New adventures were reaching out to my paws, and so I reached back.
As the sun rose, her rays stretched clear across the pale blue sky.
Colors of pink and purple swirls were cuddling with each other, as the moon began to slip behind the sleeping mountains.

I shivered as my paws stepped out onto the frozen blades of grass.
"Too cold", I thought to myself. " But, better cold than wet and soppy."
Frozen forest trees with moss covered branches, stood silent in the distance.
I could see them glistening as the sun began to touch their long needles.

And then I heard the chirp, chirp , chirping of the birdies.
Little Junco birds, with dark eyes, and cold feet, huddled close together on the branches of the naked trees.
Just like spring robin's preparing to sing their morning songs, the little Junco's sat all fat and fluffy, all in a row.
The sun rays reached down and warmed their feathers as they stretched their wings!
And then the Juncos began to sing. " Chirp, chirp, chirp" !

"What do they see?"
"Who do they hear?"
The Junco's dark eyes peered toward the magical forest.
"Ohh, I think the forest is calling to you," I said to the Junco's!
"Can I go with you into the forest, and look, and see, and listen?"
And so we did.
On this very cold frosty morning, me and the Junco's headed off into the sleeping forest.
The Junco's flew above my head, and I ran as fast as my paws could run.
High into the sky their little wings lifted them, higher and higher.
Into the forest the Junco's soared like eagles!

I stopped on the edge of the forest and gazed at the splendor.
I gazed at the shadows that were beginning to stretch among the sleeping giants.
And then I gazed at the long fingered pine needles, where the frozen droplets began to fall like sparkly diamonds.
I softly tiptoed onto the moss, while a sun ray warmed my shoulder.
I stood very quiet and I could hear Owlburt's hoooot-coming from the darkest part of the forest.

The forest looked so different today.
Was it really the forest that had changed?
How can the forest change so much, in just one day?
How can it be?
"I know that the forest was not like this yesterday. "Or was it, I asked myself?"
Wasn't yesterday Autumn- with colors of gold and red?
Wasn't it yesterday when the sunflowers bloomed, and I played with the butterfly's?
I looked at the sleeping giants, and I could hear only silence.
The silence was muffled by a mysterious occasional snore. "zzzzzzzzzz"
The golden ferns were cuddling their fronds into a nest, that had become twisted and tangled by the wind.
I knew the ferns were sleeping too.
"Hush", I said to myself, "I must be quiet."
I did not hear any roots stretching in the cold earth.
I did not hear the trees wiggling their toes.

Was I listening close enough?
Some of the sleeping giants lay silent on the ground, covered with brown leaves.
Oh, I must help them stand I thought, but I could not awaken them.
I tried to whisper into their ears, but their snores were too loud. "zzzzzzzzz".
I felt helpless!
The little creek that used to trickle, is now frozen and it's too gigantic for me to leap across!
Everything was different.
My mind raced backwards to another time when I found the red buttons floating down the stream.
Do you remember?
I remember the little tracks in the snow that I followed that special day, but they are all gone.
I remember the rabbits that lived in the thicket, that was hidden in the briars and thorns.
I remember the colored ribbons and yarn that decorated their hollow, and how I helped Nibblet and his family to make a comforter for Granny Rabbit.
I remember Granny Rabbit taking my paw and placing the threaded pine needle into it.
I remember how all the rabbits and I sewed the red buttons onto the old tattered , but loved, new comforter and how we all joined paws and placed the comforter on the bed, made from the twisted branches.
The forest is asleep. And yes, the forest has changed before my very eyes.
As I sat on the soft moss pondering those special moments, a sun beam tapped me on the shoulder.
I turned around to look and then I saw the little Junco's fluttering across the sky, like snowflakes.
The Junco's were carrying long pieces of periwinkle ribbon in their beaks. Periwinkle ribbons streaming through the skys!
Oh, what a site to behold!!
I pondered my thoughts for a moment, and then I started to run, to a clearing where the giant trees stood long ago.
I ran as fast as a lightning bolt in the sky.
And then I stopped and gazed into the fog, watching the Junco's soar.
I watched as the Perinwinkle ribbons made circles in the sky, like a sky dance!
Around and around the ribbons swirled, and then through the fog I saw it!
My eyes could not believe the beauty before me.
The oldest snag that I have ever seen, stood bravely and alone on the hill.
Once long ago, the snag was one of the most giant and bravest trees in the forest.
But it's time had come, to become more than just a tree.

Now the snag was a home to many forest animals.
Squirrels and mice and birds, and bats and raccoons found a safe shelter in the snag.
The Junco's swirled around and around the snag, and then they dipped their feathered wings and dived into a big hole!
As I came closer to the snag, I could see ribbons of many colors, draping from their weathered and crooked limbs.
Ribbons of every color were overflowing from the snag, and blowing in the breeze!
It was at that moment when I saw them!
The rabbits!
The rabbits had encircled the snag!
There they sat, shoulder to shoulder, clutching the periwinkle ribbons in their tiny paws!
Their little rabbit voices cheered!

Suddenly a shadow appeared over my shoulder. I felt the air move!
I recognized the wings, the eyes and the hoooot!
The splendorious, wings began to swoop from the sky!
And then I gasped, as the fluttering wings landed on top of the snag.
Owlburt- the wisest Owl in the forest had come home to the grandest snag of all.
Welcome home Owlburt!

"I Still Hear Bells Jingling"

I still hear bells ringing!
And I can still taste Christmas candy on my whiskers!
I still see twinkling lights!
And I just know the reindeer are still on my roof!

Sheepy is here to help me open my prezzys.
Sheepy is an old friend of mine.
And caterpillar is here too!
Old friends are the best!
I love my old friends!
So nice to cuddle with!

See my toys ? They smell brand new!
They came from near and far!
!
When I am not shredding wrapping paper and eating it,
I am zooming here and zooming there!
Look at me go!

And my very own cupcake!
And a big girl harness, too!

And my very first Christmas dress from Tiffy, to wear
on Christmas Day!

I still hear bells jingling!

Thank you my friends, for making Christmas so specials!

Tiny snow flakes are tumbling from the sky!
Watch them fall so gently!
So free! So happy!
Watch the snowflakes spin!
Watch the snowflakes tumble!
Watch them roll!

It's frosty the snowman.
He promised he would be back when winter comes.
Do you remember his promise?

Lets watch Frosty dance.

I know just what Frosty needs.
Can you guess?

Frosty need to be right inside my old farm house with me!
Welcome back Frosty!

"Let The Circle of Paws Stretch Around Them"

It's time for the "circle of paws" to encircle
some of our very dear friends Kiss-a-bull in Blogville.
They are your friends and mine.
I cannot stop these tears from falling, because this is not fair.
I cannot stop thinking about the very bad tradegedy
that has happened to Houston Pittie Pack .

A fire came and swept through their home.
The fire took everything they owned, including the lives of 5 of their furbabies, Guero, Coco Chanel, Tiger, Lucky and Shelby.
These furbabies were all of our friends.
I keep asking "why" but there are no answers.
You can get more details at Mayzie's blog.
Many are trying to help our friends, and I thought you might like to also.
What ever you can do- please do it.
Please go to their site- Kiss-a-bull and tell them that you love them.
I am stretching my paws as far around them as I can-
will you help join the circle?
love and the circle of paws being sent....

"Santa Paw's- Where Are You?"

The winter days are dancing around me like

ponys on a merry go- round!

The days feel like they are zooming,

and soon it will be Christmas!

Soon it will be too late to tell the man in red,

my Christmas wishes.

I have searched everywhere for Santa Paw's,

but I cannot find him!

Maybe I should write him a letter!

Dear Santa Paws:

Please remember I live in the old white farm house, in the forest.

You will see tracks in the snow where I danced with the snowman.

Kittys will be sitting in the windows.

Smoke will be billowing from my chimney.

I saved my favorite cookie, just for you.

Please bring bird seed for the birdies,

carrots for the rabbits,

and nuts for the chipmunks!

Please come soon.

" Look What I Won! "

Look what I won from my friends.
Their names are Maggie and Mitch the Airedales .
Maggie and Mitch are 2 of the cutest Airdales I ever did see,
and have been my bloggy friends since before forever.
They had a contest give away, because their mom made 5 mini mittens
that she wanted to share!
And I won this sock monkey mini mitten!
Isn't it so cute? I am soooo lucky!
I was so excited to hear I won! I wanted to win a mini mitten so bad.
I did not think I would win one of the mittens, but I did!
And to make it more special- it was the sock monkey mitten I won!
Their mom has been busy making other home made ornaments too.
Their Christmas tree is packed full of magical ornaments!
Their mom and dad are so crafty and creative.

I am going to hang my sock monkey mini mitten on my Christamas Tree!
I might even sink my paws into it, to keep my little toes warm!
Now I have my little mitten to match my sock monkey hat!
Thank you so much Maggie and Mitch and their mom!
I feel so special!

"For Ever Thankful"

Today my heart is ever thankful.
Memories and moments that are as many
as the million raindrops
that have fallen from the sky
now live in my heart.

I am thankful for the gifts Mother Earth
has bestowed upon my forest.
For every living heart beat of plant or animal
I am thankful.
I am thankful for the journeys that my paws
have traveled.
Each path has lead me in a new direction.
Sometimes I have stumbled and fallen.
Mother Earth always reaches out her arms
to me and lifts me higher than before.

I am thankful for the paws and hands
that reach out and join together
in circles of love in blog sphere.
I am thankful for all of you.

I am thankful for my home
and for the love I feel everyday.
I am thankful for my moms who love me.

Last year my dearest friend Angel Stubby
sent me a poster poem on thankfulness.
The words became a part my heart then,
and will be forever and ever.
My lips could never eloquently speak
as the writers of this poem have done.
I shared it with you last year.
Because it is important to me
I share these words again
with you and our land.
Forever grateful, I am that Stubby shared this with me.

"The River's Song"

Today, I listened

to the river.

She sang so merrily.

She sang a song of tranquility,

on her journeys out to sea.

I watched her bend

through crooked turns,

and splash

on jagged rocks.

I watched her frolic,

Ohh,,,, so very free.

And then I saw a tiny golden leaf,

as she spiraled,,,, gently from the sky.

It fluttered gently like butterfly wings.

I watched her touch the burbling ripples,

and then she slowly landed on the water.

I watched the little golden leaf.

I watched her swirl in circles.

I saw her float so slowly,

to her journeys far away.

Yes, far away she will travel- far out into the sea.

Today, I listened to the rivers song,

a song of harmony.

If I were that little leaf

I wonder

where my journey would lead me?

"Dona Nobis Pacem"

All the sea creatures

swim in harmony, in our mighty oceans.

The giant trees in the forest stand peacefully together.

Their roots entwine around each other

so that they can stand tall and be strong.

The trees shelter each other from the winds.

Their sky is shared with our feathered friends.

And when the wind blows

they share one song-

that song is peace.

Can you imagine peace in the world?

Can you imagine living together

in harmony

as the mighty forests and the oceans?

Can you imagine no wars?

Can you imagine love and harmony for all?

Can you imagine a gigantic circle of paws and hands,

encircling our beloved world?

I can.

Today, I am taking part in “BlogBlast for Peace.”

Those words are Latin for "grant us peace"

Mimi Lenox started this day in 2006.

Will you join me?

Tonight lets dream about Peace!

"The Leaves Are Dancing"

The leaves are twirling
like a whirlwind.

They are dancing before my eyes.
High into the sky
the breeze lifts them
and then they float
gently and softly
down to me.

Swirling , and shuffeling

They dance before my eyes!

Red leaves and gold leaves,,,

where will you go?

Must you leave so soon?

Where did your season go?

Will you be back again?

This I must know!

Tell me when I will see you again.

Mother earth is painting our world

with splendorious colors,

and falling leaves.

The leaves spin, and float and twirl!

The display is everywhere!

Red and gold and yellow and brown leaves.

The leaves are dancing!

Do you see them too?

"My Wishing Star"

My wishing star
was rising in the midnight sky.
It glowed like a candle
and shimmered so softly.
It hid behind the billowy clouds
and then it twinkled down at me.

So many bright and shiny stars ,
so many that I see,
but you are my "wishing star"
a special star to me.

I wish I may
I wish I might
have the wish
I wish tonight.

If only you'd come down to me,
and rest upon my paw.

I know that all my wishes
would surely all come true.

You glisten
ohhh so magically.
You twinkle ohhh so bright!

I wish that I could glow
like you
and make the night time bright!

I wish I may
I wish I might
have all my wishes
come true,,, tonight

Do you have a wishing star?
